He focuses on all aspects of immigration including complex deportation and removal cases, appellate case work, family based cases and business based immigration. Mr. Cauley has been a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Immigration Law since 2014.
Mr. Cauley is an experienced trial attorney with many years of trial practice in both state and federal courts prior to beginning his practice in immigration. He uses this experience in representing many families before the Immigration Court. He has a passion for taking complex litigation cases to present to the court. Because of this he regularly represents individuals in removal proceedings and for bond determination. Mr. Cauley also has a strong desire to impact immigration on a national basis by litigating appellate cases before US Circuit Courts of Appeal. He has appealed many cases to the Federal District Court and has argued before the 4th Circuit Court of Appeal. His prior trial court experience and being a Board Certified Specialist is critical in preparing creative strategies for representing individuals who are applying for relief from removal. He has been successful in representing respondents with application for Cancellation of Removal, Asylum, Waivers, and Adjustment of Status before the Immigration Court.
During these same years he developed creative strategies to assist a range of businesses requiring non-immigrant and immigrant visas for employees. Mr. Cauley extensively oversees business processes including PERM applications, H1b petitions, EB1 self-petitioners, L1 applications, and E-1/2 investors' visas. He guides employers through audits and site visits and ensures that the employer is prepared for difficult immigration problems.
Mercer Cauley's immigration practice focuses on assisting families and individuals through the confusing and time-consuming process of family based immigration. He has helped hundreds of families in their efforts to bring or keep their loved ones in the United States. Mr. Cauley takes his passion into each process and ensures that every client is prepared for every step in the process including attending the interviews with his clients. Mr. Cauley's passion for immigration issues came from his experiences following law school. In the years after law school, Mr. Cauley worked extensively with nationals from around the world. He acted as a Regional Director for Teen Mania Ministries, an international missions organization. He was responsible for South America and Asia teams in addition to directing several projects throughout Africa.
